Question 3

I disagree a small business to use the ERP

Firstly, to install the system, it need to spend a large of money. Small business could not cover the buddget by their business finally. Secondly, it is easy to make mistake when shipping staff take a wrong type update to sale department. Small business would not employer more than two or three employee to make a double checking after they confirm the imformation. Finally, sales department need to tranferr the imformation to warehouse department and eventually send it to shipping staff. It is too difficult to handle by a small business. Small business will skip the second step and directly from sale department send the details to shipping department. The staff needs to manage the warehouse stock progress. It will increase opportunity of mistake.

  1. You're right that small businesses have different work processes and steps than larger businesses. There are also ERP versions which cater to small businesses, and include only those steps or work processes that they need. These versions are priced more cheaply. The most important thing is that the software should be a good fit with their existing processes, or is able to offer them a way to improve on the way they're doing things now. And as you've pointed, the cost of owning the system must also be affordable.
